About St Peters Western


St Peters Western provides swimming opportunities for swimmers of all abilities. This ranges from Learn to Swim right through to athletes who are current Olympic Champions. The club seeks to develop holistic athletes who continually learn, both in
and out the pool. This has proven successful at State, National and International Level.
SPW is located in the western suburbs of Brisbane at
St Peters Lutheran College.

 

SPW is committed to a long-term athletic development focus, enabling swimmers to continually develop the athletic fundamentals that are required for all levels of swimming.


Why choose to Join St Peters Western

St Peters Western has over 200 swimming members, and a further 200 non-swimming members. The SPW Community is made up primarily of student swimmers from St Peters Lutheran College (Indooroopilly and Springfield), their family members, as well as non-school age swimmers and their families. 


The SPW Community is actively engaged with all club activities, and has been a contributor to the success of the club to date.

How can I join St Peters Western?


Any school-aged swimmer who would like to join SPW must be an enrolled student at St Peters Lutheran College (Indooroopilly or Springfield).


Non-school aged swimmers who would to like to join the club must contact secretary@spwswim.com.au .


N.B. Entry for non-school aged swimmers is at the discretion of the Head Coach.


 

Where is the club located?


St Peters Western is located at St Peters Lutheran College Indooroopilly. Swimmers across the program utilise a variety of facilities onsite including a 50m pool, a 25m pool and a Health and Wellness Facility for various training requirements.


How many members does SPW currently have?


SPW currently has over 200 swimming members and an equal number of non-swimming members who support the club in various ways. The SPW Community is actively engaged with the club and has been a key part of the success to date.


Who are some of SPW’s most recognised athletes?


St Peters Western has had extraordinary amount of success on the world stage.


Swimmers from the club who have achieved podium success at an international level include: Stephanie Rice, Ariarne Titmus, Elijah Winnington, Mollie O Callaghan, Madison Wilson, Maddie Groves, Bronte Barrett, Mitch Larkin, Meagan Nay, Shayna Jack, Meg Harris, Jack Cartwright, Clyde Lewis, Yolane Kukla, Georgia Bohl and Kiah Melverton.


Coaches from St Peters who have achieved this success include Michael Bohl, Dean Boxall and Mick Palfery.


Can I join St Peters Western if I am a member of another international swimming federation?


SPW has a long history of supporting athletes from many countries, both school-age and non-school age swimmers.


This includes swimmers who have represented teams from New Zealand, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and India.

Swim Central, your membership to swim clubs.

All SPW swimmers must join the club through Swim Central. This is Swimming Australia’s central system through which swimmers across Australia officially join their swim clubs and enter meets.


Membership ensures each swimmer gets the support of the club to meet their needs, swimmers are members of Swimming Australia, FINA, Swimming Qld and Brisbane Swimming Association, and swimmers are covered by insurance if anything happens during training or at a swim meet.
